Cherry-Almond Breakfast Pastries

If you like a little morning breakfast treat, today’s recipe is perfect. It’s not too sweet, balanced by tangy cream cheese in the filling, and fresh, juicy cherries. The cherries are simply tossed with orange zest—no sugar or other sweetener, so their pure cherry goodness comes through.

You can drizzle them with a bit of glaze for an added pop of sweetness if you want, or serve them without! The toasted sliced almonds add a nutty crunch to every bite that adds a contrast in texture and flavor, and complements the cherries' natural flavors, too.

I include a recipe for homemade rough puff because I like the taste of it better than store-bought frozen puff pastry (and it’s pretty easy to make!). But you can certainly use frozen sheets if you’d prefer. Read on for all of my tips!
