Apple Fritter Bread
My childhood donut shop favorite turned into a buttery quick bread.
I don’t know if I could choose one favorite doughnut, but in my top three is definitely apple fritters. I have fond childhood memories of going to our local donut shop each week and picking out an apple fritter. The outside— a golden, deeeep brown, with a perfectly crisp crust coated in a super thin, lovely shell of icing. And on the inside, they were still warm out of a deep fryer, chock full of apples. This is what makes them irresistible, and in my memory that’s how they always were. Donut shop reality doesn’t necessarily always align with nostalgic childhood memories, so I now like to make them at home for the perfect fritter every time. But I do not always want to deep fry things, especially in the morning when I’m still half asleep after having two coffees... The solution?
Apple Fritter Bread that you can bake in the oven really easily! Even though making a classic apple fritter batter is also quite simple, I developed this recipe for when I crave the deliciousness of apple fritters but heating up the oil at home feels like a chore.
